The ancient space pirate5/25/2023 I enjoy the use of the printed panel of white squares which break up the brick but also blend in quite nicely. Mechanical detail around the base along with the different textures in the gun arms give this brick of a ship some interesting elements to focus on. The tail end of the ship features a Millennium Falcon style engine band, along with a few landing boosters. I could see why pirates would like such an craft as it would be great for running down ships and disabling their shields while taking plenty of hits of its own. Ancient Greek helmets were used and he gave me a prototype from the 70s. The grill slopes used at the front could be large vents or textured armor, either reads well, but the triple gun arms are real heavy hitters. FYI I new a man who was a toy designer and consulted on Vaders helmet. BetaNotus covered almost ever crack and angle while also creating a frightfully armed front end. Throughout history there have been people willing to rob others transporting goods on the water. (I’m allowing airship captains, but not space pirates, in the interests of keeping this list to a manageable size. If the protagonist is a pirate, then more’s the better. During this time more than 5000 pirates were said to be at sea. Pirates are engines of chaos, and as such, can help writers shake up their narratives and drive their protagonists to extremity. Originally built for BrickFair Virginia 2021, there are a slew of techniques used in the shaping of this craft. Though pirates have existed since ancient times, the Golden Age of piracy was in the 17th and early 18th centuries. Like the once Imperial vessels which fell into the hands of brigands and thieves, this ship is “crewed by pirates seeking fame, fortune, and unsuspecting merchants,” as the builder puts it. Though they are generally hunched, non-mammalian bipeds, Space Pirate physiology varies drastically due to their propensity for genetic self. When I saw that Space Pirates were trending because of Ted Cruz, I just assumed they were here to take him back to his home planet. To this end, they are bent on destroying the Galactic Federation and their hated enemy, bounty hunter Samus Aran. The Discril-class attack cruisers from Cracken’s Rebel Operatives may not be canon now but their general shaping was similar to the model that BetaNotus crafted in their honor. The Space Pirates are a faction of power-hungry brigands and conquerors bent on ruling their galaxy and enslaving all other races. It is now time for us to focus on the Space Pirates, a foe that has been a thorn in the side of the Galactic Federation and Samus Aran across the majority. Presumably named after an extinct genus of octopus, the Keuppia by Builder BetaNotus is also inspired by an ancient expansion from 1994 of the Star Wars role-playing game.
